Clarks Island Landcare Group
The group was established in January 2003 and has seen big improvements in terms of weed cover and native plants on the island since.
The group is working to regenerate Clarks Island on the Hawkesbury River. The island is about 800 metres long with a large lagoon in the middle.
Work involves eradicating willows from Clarks Island, reducing biomass of other weed species to controllable levels and revegetating with native species where necessary to improve biodiversity and to reduce risk of riverbank erosion. One of the founders of our group, Fred Wood, received a Bronze Landcare Award in 2003. WorkdaysThe group has workdays on the last Saturday of every month. CMA contactAlex Muir (02) 4725 3041 |
